Dear Friends,

THE SAD NEWS…
Family Fridays have been discontinued until further notice.

THE REASONS…
We were not able to source a large enough variety of food stalls and the number of visitors did not justify the effort and money that was being spent on marketing and hosting the events. Stallholders were also not happy with the sales they were making.

THE FUTURE…
1. The restaurant will be open every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday from 9am to 2pm serving our famous breakfasts and other light meals. We will make some of our farm produce available for sale on weekends, and to expand the nursery and the selection and buying experience a little more user friendly.
2. Our speciality, High Tea Parties are also on Saturdays by booking only and subject to availability. Tea is served at 11am or 2pm.
3. We will be hosting big events at least once every season when we will also invite stallholders to come and participate.
4. We launched our mountain bike trail in the next few weeks, this will be open on weekends and public holidays.
5. We are in discussion with some interested parties who would like us to get involved in trail running. We are quite sure that we would be able to host a trail running event at Rosemary Hill in the near future.
6. Please remember that you can always check our website to see future events.

Thank you for your continued support, we hope that you will join us for breakfast or tea soon!

With kind regards,

Theresa Franken

Dear Friends

We have reached the end of quite an eventful year and would like to thank you for supporting the market during 2010.

After two and a half years of having our market on a Sunday, we have decided to try something new!

For the first half of this year we will be focussing on family and food, and moving the market to Friday evenings.  Our idea is to provide a place for families to get together at the end of the working week and experience a variety of al fresco foods, relaxed atmosphere, good music and fun things for the kids to do.

The market will be open from 4pm until 10pm and we will still have a variety of stalls where one can buy fresh produce, baked goods and arts and crafts.  Our main aim is to create a fun and relaxed environment where families can enjoy time together in a relaxed environment, watching the sunset and listening to live music with a bonfire to add to the atmosphere.  We are also considering having braais available so that those who would like to braai their own meat can do so too.

The routine will initially be the same as always: the second and last weekend of the the month, with the first event scheduled for Friday 28 January 2011.  We will list all the dates on the website and send reminders in the week leading up to the events.  By April or May we will be in a position to assess whether we continue for the second half of the year and whether it would be viable to consider doing it more frequently.

We are aware that there are many fans of the “Sunday morning experience” at Rosemary Hill and for this reason we are working on the possibility of opening on Saturday and Sunday mornings for breakfast.  Our only concern with this idea is that there may then not be enough for visitors to do or see.  To address this we are in the process of laying out a mountain bike trail on the farm which will enable families to come out and ride in a relaxed and secure environment with safe parking.  We are also considering expanding the restaurant to become more like a deli selling baked goods and fresh produce to take home.  We would need to have additional activities to keep kids busy on such mornings as well.

It would be great to see you all at our new Friday night events, we will send out notifications of special themes, promotions and musicians that may be appearing, closer to the time.  We would also love to hear from you if you have any  ideas that could make our offering to visitors more enjoyable.

We would like to wish you a peaceful and successful 2011!

 With kind regards

 Theresa Franken

on behalf of everybody at Rosemary Hill

As we eagerly await the rain to turn our grass green, we are preparing for another busy market this weekend.

If you’ve never been, this is what you can expect: Over 40 stalls selling handmade products from food to arts and crafts. We also have a new Sustainable Living shop that opened inside the restaurant as well as the Art Gallery and Gift Shop upstairs. Once you have finished shopping, please do join us for one of our famous breakfasts, or for tea and scones or a cappuccino with a slice of delicious cake or why not wait for 12h00 to join us for our Sunday homecooked lunch buffet!

Other activities include a tractor ride around the farm at 12h00, pony rides for the kids from 10h00, a trampoline and giant sandpit. We are working on  a ‘green’ jungle gym for the kids and when I say green I mean it is going to be made of 100% recycled plastic. Watch this space for an update on this exciting project!

So come join us on Sunday for a lazy day out in the sun or to spend some quality time with your family!

See you Sunday

Theresa
